Because the university is so large and diverse, finding the right coverage for you can be tricky. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to help you understand the different types of NC State health insurance waivers and how they can benefit you.
How to Get the waiver
If you are an NC State student and you live in a state that does not have a health insurance exchange, you may be eligible for a waiver from your school. To find out if you are eligible, go to ncsublogs.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/ncsu-health-insurance-waiver/. If you are not currently enrolled in any form of health insurance, NC State will likely provide coverage for you through the WakeMed Health Plan, which is our on-campus health insurance provider. The process of obtaining the waiver and enrolling in WakeMed is as follows: Go to ncsublogs.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/ncsu-health-insurance-waiver/. Complete the online application form and attach supporting documentation (if applicable). Submit the completed form to NCSU Student Health Services. Your school’s financial aid office can also assist you in completing the form and submitting your documentation. You will then be contacted by Student Health Services to schedule an appointment to discuss your eligibility for the waiver. Once your eligibility is confirmed, Student Health Services will send you specific instructions on how to enroll in WakeMed

Completing and Returning Your Waive
If you are ready to complete and return your waiver, follow these steps: 1. Log in to myNCCU Account. 2. Click on “Student & Staff Services” from the main menu. 3. Under “My Waives,” click on “Waivers.” 4. Complete the waiver form and print it out or save it to your computer. 5. Submit the waiver form to the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) by a79th day after the term starts. You may mail the form or drop it off at OSA during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm). 6.
